Maine Coon Character and Traits
The Maine Coon is deservedly called a "gentle giant." It is a large, yet surprisingly friendly and intelligent breed.
Temperament
Maine Coons are calm, well-balanced, and unobtrusive. They bond with people, enjoy being nearby, but do not demand constant attention.
With Children and Other Pets
They get along wonderfully with children and other pets thanks to their patient nature. They often become a beloved friend to the entire family.
Intelligence and Sociability
Maine Coons are intelligent, easily learn house rules, are responsive to interaction, and are quite "talkative" — they produce characteristic melodious sounds.
Activity Level
They love games and climbing, but without being hyperactive. A multi-level scratching post or cat tree and regular attention are sufficient to keep your Maine Coon happy.
